Renters Insurance in Irvine, CA

Do Millennials Need Renters Insurance? Learn The Benefits.

Renters Insurance in Irvine, CADo Millennials Need Renters Insurance? Learn The Benefits.

If you are a millennial, there is a good chance you rent a home, apartment or condo. According to surveys, up to 70% of millennial renters do not have renters insurance. This is an alarming statistic. Whether you are a young professional or finishing up your college degree, every renter should have a renters insurance policy.

Simple reasons millennials choose not to buy renters insurance –

“I am secure enough from potential damages”

Is this true? If your apartment, condo or home was in a fire and you lost all your valuables, would you feel financially secure enough to replace everything?

“I don’t see the value in renters insurance?”

Instead of it being a value issue, some millennials may not fully understand what renters insurance actually covers. So, we thought it would be good to break down exactly how renters insurance works (see below).

Another common thought, “if my apartment, home or condo is damaged in a fire, flood, etc., my landlord covers the damages?”

Your landlord most likely would not be required to cover damages to any of your personal belongings.

What Renters Insurance Covers

Renters insurance covers your personal property: Items that you own from your furniture, clothing, computer, kitchen items and more.

Renters insurance provides you with liability coverage: Coverage limits vary, but if you someone were to injure themselves in your home, you would have protection. Other common examples include your dog bites your friend or a friend falls in your kitchen and breaks her wrist because you left water on the floor.

Renters insurance may cover the cost of temporary housing. If your home, apartment or condo has major damage that prevents you from being able to live there, renters insurance may cover the cost of a hotel room.

Did you also know that renters insurance is very affordable?

Renters insurance can be as cheap as $1/day. While most renters insurance policies provide $100,000 in liability coverage, you can increase this limit. Talk to your insurance agent about how a bump in liability coverage can provide additional protection at a very affordable price.

Great Park Insurance in Irvine, California explains the difference between canceling your insurance policy and non renewal

Cancellations – We Understand!

Great Park Insurance in Irvine, California explains the difference between canceling your insurance policy and non renewalAt Great Park Insurance in Irvine, CA, we strive to serve our community to the best of your needs. Whether it is providing quotes or servicing current policies, we try our best to be understanding of any concerns or questions you may have. This still rings true when it comes to cancellations. Although most companies will become less responsive and have a tedious process when asking for a cancellation, we still hold to our values of ensuring an enjoyable experience working with us.

Cancellations vs. Non Renewals

A common question that occurs with cancellations is whether it is actually a cancellation or a non renewal. Cancellations occur when a policy is stopped before the end of its term period. This can be due to a number of reasons such as failure to pay the premium, misinformation on a policy, or actions that would affect the necessity of the policy. For example, if your driver license were to be suspended, your auto insurance may be cancelled.

As for non renewals, this is when a policy is set to expire at the end of the term. Non renewals can be decided by you or the insurance carrier. There are a number of reasons why policies may be non renewed by your insurance. It can be because they have decided to write fewer policies in your area. It can also be because of something on your end. For example, they may ask you to provide proof of repairs for your home insurance to be renewed and failure to do so would result in a non renewal.

Why We’re Different

Cancellations do have a negative connotation as it does insinuate an end to our partnership to help you with all of your insurance needs. However, that does not stop us from continuing to provide you with the best service possible all the way until our final contact. We hope all of our members remember us as an agency that puts their needs first.

That is how one of our previous members, Kevin T., felt in this Yelp review he left on our page. We are always grateful to help another community member.

At the end of the day, a goodbye is not permanent. We hope that our members feel so satisfied with our service that they know they will always be welcomed back with that same great treatment whenever they need us again.

Vacation Home Insurance in Irvine, CA

What You Need to Know About Vacation Home Insurance

What You Need to Know About Vacation Home Insurance

Vacation Home Insurance in Irvine, CAWhen it comes to insuring a vacation home, the insurance landscape can look slightly different from that of primary homes. While the risks are relatively similar, you’ll find that some added perils come with vacation homes. These risks vary with how you intend to use your second home.

Personal Use
If a vacation home is often left vacant for long periods, the chances of burglary, vandalism, and unnoticed damage may rise considerably. Moreover, the house’s location can expose it to further damages such as flooding, fires, or wind damage, which may not be attended to in due time considering the vacant status of the house. Insurance providers take all of this into consideration when determining your policy premium. You’ll likely be offered a comprehensive insurance policy in order to cover all risks adequately. Be sure to clarify whether you intend to keep the house vacant for extended periods or visit regularly. Vacant home insurance and vacation home insurance, while similar, are not the same.

Intentions of renting
If you’re considering renting your vacation home or allowing others to stay in it, your policy will look different. Aside from protecting your second home structure, it’s a good idea to ensure that you have enough personal liability coverage. An Umbrella insurance policy can cover any claims against you due to injury or damages that occurred on the property. Be sure to look into liability coverage, which covers any personal injuries sustained by someone while they’re on the property. This policy could also include medical payments coverage.

Moreover, rent-loss insurance could be a worthwhile investment considering that it covers any financial losses amassed during times when rent cannot be paid (damages, natural disasters, and much more.) It is also worth looking into a landlord policy, which can cover you for damages while even replacing lost income if the property is being rebuilt or repaired following a covered loss.

Do I really need to insure my vacation home?
While not strictly necessary, it’s highly recommended to get coverage for your secondary-home. Damages to a vacation home, whether first or second-party, can be financially crippling.  Additionally, if your vacation home has a mortgage, your lender may require property insurance as a condition of borrowing.

How much will my insurance policy cost?
Depending on several factors such as the home’s age, condition, and location, the amount you’ll pay for a homeowners insurance policy can fluctuate. However, overall, expect to pay higher than with regular home insurance.

The best way to get more information on vacation home insurance is to ask a licensed agent in our office. We can assist you with assessing your insurance needs and provide you with some quotes from several of the top insurance companies.

Starting Anew in Social Media

In a world dominated by social media, it can be a daunting task for a business to try and grow their platforms. Not only that but each platform is used for a different purpose and are frequented by different demographics. How do you keep a consistent brand image all throughout? Things like even having a blog such as this one could be considered a form of social media. How would it look for an insurance agency to try and create such content?

At Great Park Insurance in Irvine, CA, our primary purpose is to provide quotes and assistance with home insurance, auto insurance, and life insurance to name a few. However, we have decided to try our hand in something entirely new. Instead of using traditional marketing like ads, we decided to give more effort into our social media. We believe that letting our members take a look into our office life will create a more homey and natural atmosphere.

At the start, the platforms we were already on were Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. For a business, these sites are a must have. With Instagram, we are able to showcase our professional photos as well as inspirational quotes from time to time. Instagram stories make it even easier to share our daily office life like eating altogether or sharing our board quote of the day. Facebook is also tied with our Instagram, making it easier to share our content to even more people. LinkedIn was not being utilized as much but we did have a neat business page for potential applicants and clients to look at should they be curious about our company.

Now, we are continuing use of those platforms, as well as adding TikTok and Twitter to the group. These are the platforms that are primarily used by a younger demographic. What purpose would an insurance agency have with these apps? For one, we thought it would be a good way to just make content for the fun of it. It is a more casual way to display our personalities. However, we also understand the power of social media when it comes to information. We want to be able to provide educational content as well because the world of insurance can definitely be a confusing one.

The part of the process we are at now is probably where we decide how best to shape our branding. Although social media can be forgiving in terms of allowing different types of content to succeed depending on which platform it is that you are using, there should still be an overall, unifying message. At Great Park Insurance, we still believe that it is our utmost priority to satisfy our members as best as we can. Not only do we want to continue providing you with our excellent customer service, we want to be able for our members to get to know us as well.

If you are curious about what we have going on with our social media, please head over to our website here to easily go to all of our accounts. We hope you want to come along on this journey of utilizing social media to best represent our company!

New Home Owner Irvine, California

Congratulations on Your New Home!

Purchasing a home is already hard enough. Finding insurance for it is a whole nother ordeal. However, that does not mean it has to be difficult. At Great Park Insurance, we want you to celebrate your new purchases by finding insurance that makes you feel insured and content. That was exactly the case for Jasmine K., who is a valued member of ours.

Already familiar with Daniel’s (Founder) great customer service, Jasmine had referred several of her loved ones to Great Park Insurance in the past few years. This time around, she was the one who needed assistance. Jasmine was looking to find home insurance and auto insurance. However, she was hesitant. She had just moved to Northern California in the Bay Area and Great Park Insurance was located in Irvine, California. It did not seem likely that she would be able to receive service when she was located hundreds of miles away.

Thankfully, Jasmine decided to call in anyways. Once connected to her risk manager, Victor Tran, she was pleasantly surprised at the reassurance Victor was able to provide on ensuring that they would still be able to service her. As with most small businesses, it can seem that there is a lot on everyone’s plate. Jasmine had a twinge of doubt if Victor could effectively help her as she understood how busy the agency was. Her doubts quickly dissipated as Victor not only went above and beyond to find policies that suited her needs but also made the time to follow up with her to get the policies started on time.

The ability to give that same fantastic customer service rings true for all of our agents. During this process, Victor was out of the office for a few days. However, to ensure that Jasmine would be able to continue her process of submitting the correct information to her lender, Daniel and Stephanie (Account Manager) were able to step in and continue the smooth process. Jasmine was incredibly pleased with how painless the whole journey was to get her a new home and auto policy. She took her satisfaction to Yelp and kindly gave us a glowing review.

Thank you so much, Jasmine! Congratulations on your new home and we hope to continue to be able to service you to the best of our ability. We strive to give this same level of customer service to all of our members and potential new ones as well! Finding insurance can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be with the help of Great Park Insurance.

Agency Profile: Yesenia Marcha

A coffee a day keeps the headaches away. At least, that’s what Yesenia Marcha seems to think as she starts her morning off with coffee every day. As Great Park Insurance’s Agency Manager, Marcha has the role of ensuring that the office is at its best at all times. Whether it’s policy servicing, training others, or watching over operations, Marcha’s utmost priority is to make sure the agency runs smoothly.

However, this is Marcha’s first experience in the insurance industry. Her background has primarily been in the serving industry at restaurants. She has also worked at call centers, which explains her excellent customer service. However, that wasn’t enough for Marcha.

“I wanted to take my customer service to the next level.” Marcha said when asked why she decided to take on this position in insurance. She wanted to be able to work at a place that would elevate her servicing skills as well as let her consistently improve and grow as an individual. Marcha showed a strong preference for working in the insurance industry because of  how stable and necessary insurance is.

“Everyone needs insurance!” Marcha exclaimed.

Marcha even has higher compliments to give when it comes to Great Park Insurance (GPI) in Irvine, California specifically, despite only working there for eight months. When asked what is one thing that she would like everyone to know about GPI, she gladly expressed how the customer service at the agency was exceptional. She feels like they take the next step by being attentive to the small details, like providing informational videos to new members for them to understand their auto and home insurance quotes. Not only that, she is enthused to continually see the agency’s technological use become more efficient and useful over time.

While GPI is a great agency, it is employees like Marcha who make it such a warm and helpful environment. When she is not at work, Marcha loves to travel and visit scenic destinations. She tries to go to a new location every year. So far, some of the notable places that she has been to have been Cancun, Puerto Rico, Chicago, Puerto Vallarta, and many more. She hopes to be able to travel again soon.

Alongside her vibrant personality and hard working attitude, Marcha has a solid method on achieving success.

“Failure is a key component to success,” She said before elaborating. “You’re only going to learn if you fail and take risks.”

She firmly believes that obstacles are what makes anyone stronger. Although obstacles may be challenging, being willing to tackle those challenges is what sets you up to have a powerful mindset.

Lastly, Marcha was asked where she saw herself in five years. She excitedly replied by saying that she wanted to continue working in the insurance industry, specifically as an underwriter for a carrier. Best of luck, Yesenia! It is certain that she is going to succeed in this industry with how fantastic she is helping Great Park Insurance thrive.

Accidents Happen, We Totally Understand

It was a day like any other. The sun shone brightly down in Irvine, California as the Woods family made their way over to Orange County Great Park to have a calming family picnic. Mr. and Mrs. Woods were conversing about how their work week went as their son and daughter sat in the back, eager to see the Great Park hot air balloon.

Mr. Woods was cruising along Jeffrey Road, slowly coming to a halt at the light. He reached over to hold Mrs. Woods’ hand, turning to smile at her before looking back to keep watch for when the light turned green. The red switched to green and Mr. Woods inched forward to turn onto Irvine Boulevard, careful as it was a yield left turn. Many cars zipped by at a fast speed and it didn’t seem like there would be an opening any time soon. The kids were happily singing along to the radio.  Mr. Woods kept inching forward as the light turned yellow, assuming that the oncoming cars would begin to brake. He spotted his chance to take the turn, with no cars in sight but a gray Lexus that had to have been slowing down.

He began making the turn when a nervous feeling overcame him. Out of the corner of his eye, the gray Lexus did not seem to have slowed down at all. He instinctively gripped his wife’s hand tightly, instructing his kids to quickly duck and hold their heads.

Time seemed to slow to a turtle’s pace, the Lexus inches away.

A loud crash.

The kids’ screams.

Their car lurched to the side, careening to the curb. Woods looked over at his wife and kids, breathing a sigh of relief when he noticed no one had gotten hurt. He doesn’t think he can say the same for the car, though. He doesn’t even want to think about the aftermath of this.

Accidents happen and no one knows that better than Great Park Insurance. We want all of our members to be happy and healthy, so we are here to help when the rainy days come. Like the Woods family, many of you have probably experienced the fear of uncertainty after an accident. There were likely also times where you felt overwhelmed at the amount of work and calls you’d have to make to deal with your insurance afterwards. No worries! Also like the Woods family, Great Park Insurance will take care of your claim and insurance accordingly. We are here to be your support when you need it the most.

5 Rules Every Landlord Should Live By

I was recently asked this question by one of our Great Park Insurance clients, and thought I would share the answer here for our readers.

There are a lot of things that go into homeowners and auto insurance rates, one of them being credit. I’ve heard a lot of complaints from people who don’t like the fact that insurance companies use credit in their underwriting.

Some people have absolutely no idea that it’s used in the rate at all.

At the end of the day, there’s not much we can do about it though. Insurance companies have been using credit in their rates for decades, and that’s not likely to change.

By the way, insurance companies don’t pull your credit like a mortgage company or credit card company does. There is no negative impact on your credit as a result of an insurance company looking at it.

When I say “pull” what I mean is that the insurance company is doing what’s called a soft inquiry, which is not the same thing as having your credit pulled (hard inquiry).

When does credit play a role in insurance rates?
It’s important to understand that insurance companies don’t continuously check or monitor your credit. Usually, they only check it when you first get a quote and/or sign up with them in the very beginning.

This means that if your credit score increases (or decreases) your insurance company does not automatically know about it.

So, to my customers question of whether or not his increased credit score will lower his rates, the answer is not automatically.

What has to be done on our side as the agent is contact the carrier the insurance and ask them to do what’s commonly referred to as a “re-score”. This is when the insurance company can re-run the person’s credit (soft inquiry) to see if there is any positive bearing on the rate.

This isn’t something that the insurance company is going to let the agency do every single year, so it’s not worth even asking unless there has been a significant change in your credit score, and only you as the customer would know if that was the case.

If you’d like to get a better handle on your credit rating, it could be helpful to setup credit monitoring. We hope this was helpful! As always, leave us comment below if you have any questions.
